Dakarayi ‘Dak’ Mashava
Originally from Zimbabwe, Dak is a freelance dance artist. With roots in free-styling and being self taught he’s always been a curious mover.
He started his formal training at Leicester College with Ballet, Jazz and Street dance and then moving onto The Place / London Contemporary Dance School were he graduated with a BA Hons in Contemporary Dance.
Since then his training and versatility has taken him to various avenues in theatre and commercial work. From Thriller Live (Tour and West End) to the National Theatre and most recently completing a season (Boy’s Khaya) with renowned African Contemporary dance company, Tavaziva dance. As well as being quite the seasoned performer Dak is also a keen Choreographer currently developing their teaching and choreography methods. Recently he has started getting involved with educational outreach workshops with different schools and youth companies, currently with Tavaziva youth dance workshops.
Dak has just finished working with Caitlin Barnett dance on the recent project ‘Even the Devil Has Demons’
